Biography
Birth name Christina Maria Aguilera Date of birth (location) 18 December 1980, Staten Island, New York, USA Christina began performing at age six in school talent shows, at eight she appeared on 'Star Search', at ten she sang the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, and at twelve appeared in 'The New Mickey Mouse Club' - together with Britney Spears, J.C. and Justin of 'NSync, and others ...
When the show ended two years later, Christina performed in Japan and Romania, but always had one goal - to have her own album recorded and released before she graduated high school. In 1998 Christina auditioned to sing 'Reflection' for Disney's animated film 'Mulan'. Christina cut a demo in her living room singing to a karaoke tape of Whitney Houstons 'I wanna run to you', and soon Christina was in Los Angeles recording 'Reflection'. In 1998, 'Reflection' turned into a Top 15 A/C single, and Christina performed it live on 'CBS this Morning' and the 'Donnie & Marie Show'. The single got a Golden Globe Nomination for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture and brought Christina to the attention of writers and producers. Those writers and producers helped Christina on her first, self-titled album for RCA. Christina's breakthrough began with her first Number-One single 'Genie in a Bottle', which stayed atop the charts for five weeks and rocketed the album to # 1 upon its release in August 1999. The follow-up single 'What a girl wants' was the first #1-hit of the new millenium. Christina was named one of the most fascinating women of 1999 on the 'Ladies Home Journal' CBS-TV special, won 1999 Best New Artist at ALMA awards, was on covers of many magazines and guest star in TV shows and TV specials like 'Saturday Night Life', 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' and others. Christina also performed 'The Christmas Song' for President Bill Clinton on TNT's 'Christmas at the White House'-special, and in 2000 she appeared with Enrique Iglesias at the Super Bowl Half Time Show. Christina also got nominated for two Grammies - Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal performance. And in February 2000 the Grammy for Best New Artist went to - Christina Aguilera!
'Mi Reflejo' - released in fall 2000, is Christinas Spanish language album - Christina has Ecuadorian heritage which she is proud of and wanted to explore her Latin side. Christina is thrilled by her success, but remains reflective and grateful. For her, the greatest thing is being able to interact with her fans and touching their lives.
Christina Aquilera Nude on the cover of the Rolling Stone.
"A female version of Viagra is expected to be released next year with the promise of giving women faster arousal and better orgasms. The pill is so strong, doctors warn the increased speed of arousal might cause Christina Aguilera's vagina to time travel."
And more recently: "In entertainment news, has anybody seen that new Christina Aguilera video? I think it gave my TV genital warts."
Warts and all, Aguilera is front and center on Rolling Stone this month, nude with a few fingers on one breast and a guitar neck on the other one. The headline: "Inside the Dirty Mind of a Pop Princess." "Dirrty" just happens to be the name of Aguilera's new single.
The Rolling Stone profile on Aguilera runs 28 paragraphs before any discussion of music comes up. Those first 28 paragraphs detail Aguilera's habit of breaking glasses to relieve stress, her penchant for nudity and her public image as being dirty.
I don't really mind Aguilera. I think of her as an immature stripper with a strong voice. Her new album, "Stripped," is both good and a bit cheesy. But how bad has Rolling Stone become that this historic and prime "music" magazine continues to focus on music only so deep as Aguilera's pores?
Bobcat Goldthwait once joked that Rolling Stone used to stand for rebellion, but that now it's, like: Hey look, a new CD ad! Bobcat made that joke in 1987. In the 15 years since, Rolling Stone has been turned into a Teen People for 13-year-olds and for those Peter Pan adults who actually think it's cool to buy Rolling Stone because Britney Spears is on the cover for the fifth or sixth time in two years.
If you want, hold your breath for a return to quality, but the magazine editorship was just taken over by a guy from Maxim, which is a fun-silly read itself, but how many lad magazines do we need on the shelf? Rolling Stone's new take on content offers little promo blurbs everywhere. And its main thrust remains a tradition: To promote musicians who are on music labels that buy ads in Rolling Stone. Some rebellion.

Aguilera branded pop rival Britney Spears
The blonde pop diva, who has known Britney since the early 1990's, is said to have refused to have her photo taken with the pop princess outside trendy Hollywood club Moomba. Britney, who overheard Christina's very public outburst, reportedly stormed out of the club to avoid a confrontation."I don't want to be in the same picture as that teenybopper trash," Aguilera is heard to have said.Claiming her career is more credible, she added: "I just could not sing her kind of songs because I think it's sacrificing what you stand for."Is Britney being true to herself?" she continued. "I doubt it"."My songs are as good, if not better than Britney's. It's just that she gets more publicity."She added: "The acid test will be to see which of us survives the longest."
